This is your chance to enjoy hands-on Greek cooking classes in Greece with Stella, the most trusted gastronomic specialist on the island, as your cook!
Cook in our well equipped kitchen with guests from all over the world and enjoy the meals you created together with your fellow cooks complimented with superb wine from Paros.
You will have plenty of time to explore the area or just relax and enjoy your home away from home in a spectacular setting with new friends
Prepare to roll up your sleeves and get your apron dirty!
Day 1 – Arrival on Paros
Arrival day and check-in at Hotel. Welcome drinks and Greek “mezes”. Around the evening we are going to have our first meeting, starting with a little talk about the program.
Day 2 - Vegetables
Morning is free for you to relax or explore the local area. After lunch (around 16.30 – 17.00) we will meet at Margarita’s restaurant for an afternoon tea or coffee. Today we are going to work with grape leaves: picking leaves from our grapes and blanching them, making the stuffing and rolling dolmadakia, preparing eggplants imam or stuffed tomatoes and vegetables in the oven. The cooking lesson always turns into a local feast in the end, where the participants taste the dishes they have prepared, along with home-made wine, local bread and Greek music.
Day 3 - Meat & Local herbs
After breakfast we will head to the mountains of Paros. Depending of the season, we are going to pick fresh sage, oregano, capers or if we are lucky, a very special “kalfa”. If you collect more herbs than needed, feel free to take them home with you! When we return to Margarita’s restaurant, we are going to learn how to dry and store our herbs, and the various ways in which Greeks flavour their food with them. Today, we are going to work with meat: roasted pork with a rosemary sauce and meatballs with mint. Dinner will be served at 9 pm.
Day 4 - Wine tasting & Fish
After breakfast we will visit the award-winning Winery-Museum Moraitis in Naoussa village (www.paroswines.gr) where the family of the owners is happy to narrate their personal history, the history of the winery, and the cultural aspects of the area. You can also purchase their award-winning wine. Wine tasting will also be available.
In the afternoon we will begin our cooking lesson with fish as a main dish; we will prepare ‘kakavia’, a special fish soup, charcoal-grilled fish or octopus with pasta and fresh salads. Before our dinner we are going to set up our wooden oven and prepare the chick peas for an all night cooking.
Day 5 - Preparing the oven – Starters- Farewell Party
After breakfast we are going to have our final cooking lesson. Lamb with potatoes in the oven, our famous “spanakopita” and spinach pies. Day 5 includes lessons of how to make tzatziki, eggplant salad and our secret recipe for zucchini and tomato balls.
Afternoon is free for a relaxing nap or for exploring the island, sunbathing next to the pool or preparing for the night farewell party.
Today will be the departure day for our guests who are going home. For those of you who haven’t had enough of Paros, feel free to stay with us for as long as you want!
The Cooking Classes are informal & in English. The cook is flexible and willing to add those special dishes that you have always wanted to learn how to make.
Recipes vary according to the seasons. We use only the most fresh ingredients available, the majority of which come from the vegetable garden of several farmers.
The sequence of activities might change subject to weather and to the availability of certain ingredients.
